They are sodium, potassium, calcium or magnesium salts of phosphoric acid. it comes in the form of E 450(i) – disodium diphosphate, E 450(ii) – trisodium diphosphate, E 450(iii) – tetrasodium diphosphate, E 450(iv) – dipotassium diphosphate, E 450(v) – tetrapotassium diphosphate, E 450(vi) – dicalcium diphosphate, E 450(vii) – calcium dihydrogen diphosphate or E 450(viii) – dimagnesium diphosphate. It is used in powder form foods, snacks, breakfast cereals, milk-based chocolate and malt beverages, soups, broths, alcoholic beverages.
